Local Rules

1. Out of Bounds (Rule 18)
a. Beyond any boundary of the course, boundary hedges and fences.
b. Course-side edge of any wall or paved area beyond the 18th green.
2. Penalty Areas (Rule 17)
All penalty areas are defined by yellow or red stakes.
3. Abnormal Course Conditions (including Immovable Obstructions)
Pylons, Roads and Paths
All pylons, artificially surfaced roads and paths on the course are treated as immovable obstructions from which free relief is allowed under Rule 16.1.
Overhead Cables
If a player’s ball hits an overhead line or cable the stroke does not count. The player must play a ball without penalty from where the previous stroke was made (see Rule 14.6).
Fixed Sprinkler Heads and Irrigation Boxes
Relief from sprinkler heads may be taken under Rule 16.1. The player may also take relief under Rule 16.1b if a sprinkler head is on the line of play and is within two club-lengths of the putting green, and within two club-lengths of the ball.
Exception - There is no relief if a player chooses a line of play that is clearly unreasonable.
Ground Under Repair / Abnormal Course Conditions including No Play Zones (Rule 16)
a) Badger sets on the 8th are marked with red posts with black tops and the area must be treated as a no play zone.
b) Ground Under Repair is identified by white markings and must be treated as a no play zone. Relief must be taken under Rule 16.1f.
c) The Woodshed and Farm Cart on holes 14 & 15 are immovable obstructions from which relief may be taken under Rule 16.1.
Protection of Young Trees (trees with plastic guards to the right of the 10th hole)
If a player’s ball lies anywhere on the course other than in a penalty area and it lies on or touches such a tree or such a tree interferes with the player’s stance or area of intended swing, the player must take relief under Rule 16.1f.
4. Breach of Local Rule

Match Play - Loss of Hole; Stroke Play – Two Strokes.

Additional Information for golfers

1. Public Footpath: Be aware of walkers on the course. A public footpath runs around & through the course: crossing holes 1, 8, 9, 10, 16 & 18; running alongside & beyond hole 7, & alongside holes 1, 10, 11, 12 & 17. See map.
2. Neighbouring properties: Beyond the 1st & 3rd greens, to the left of the 5th hole (from behind the 4th tee to the ditch) and to the right of the 10th hole is out of bounds. Neighbouring properties are located in these areas. Keep your ball with the boundary of the course. Please inform the clubhouse if you hit your ball into the neighbouring properties.
3. Playing doglegs safely: The 9th & 16th must be played as doglegs. Deliberate cutting of the doglegs on these holes, will be viewed as dangerous play as it risks the safety of; players on the 16th when you are playing the 9th, and players on the 17th tee when you are playing the 16th.
4. Priority on 10th tee: Players finishing on the 9th green have priority over players starting on the 10th tee.

Health & Safety Statement

For the enjoyment & safety of all, please ensure that you:


1. Do not play a stroke or make a practice swing if anyone is standing close by or is in a position to be hit by the golf club.

2. Do not play until players/walkers/greenstaff are out of range. 

3. Give way to greenstaff in their work, they will move aside for you at the earliest opportunity.

4. Do not play your approach shot to the green if the flag is out of the cup. Greenstaff will put the flag back when they are safely out of play

5. Call “FORE!” immediately if there is a danger of your ball hitting someone. 

6. Beware of players hitting golf balls. If you hear a call of “FORE”, immediately turn away from the call, adopt a crouch position covering your head.

7. Follow all safety instructions on the golf course and on buggies.

8. Take care when walking up, down or across sloping ground, particularly in wet conditions. 

Please report any accident or near miss incident to the club office at the earliest opportunity.
